How to install Ubuntu on a Steam Deck with an External USB Drive

Ubuntu Installation

Create a live Ubuntu USB using Ubuntu ISO and Etcher
Plug the live USB and the empty drive into the Steam Deck.
Hold the volume button and power button to boot into the USB.
Pick Try Ubuntu.
Start the installer.
Select Interactive installation.
Delete the old drive (click the – icon).
Create a new one and set the mount point to /. The boot partition will be created for you.
Review the summary. Other drives should stay unchanged
